Lack of Dental Coverage Creating Crisis For Children
Saturday February 4, 2006
While many Americans are concerned about their health care coverage, few people think about their dental coverage. This article in the Dallas Morning News illustrates what can happen to people, particularly children, who cannot afford appropriate dental care. Parents cannot afford to pay the dentist, so they only take their children in for treatment if the pain becomes intolerable. Often, by the time the child sees a dentist, the problem has worsened to the point where extensive and expensive care is necessary to treat it. Sometimes, the problem is not treatable at all until the child grows older. It is a sad, sad state of affairs.
