Limited Options For People With Preexisting Conditions

Tuesday February 7, 2006
When people have preexisting medical conditions, finding affordable health insurance can be a real challenge. This article in the Indianapolis Star describes one man's experiences and discusses a new Indiana state law which allows insurers to offer policies that exclude only the preexisting condition from coverage. This means that fewer consumers will be rejected for coverage outright, but they still will not receive coverage for any pre-existing medical conditions. Unfortunately, most states do not have similar laws, but if you are living in Indiana, this new law may be helpful to you.

To find out if your state will allows insurers to sell you a policy which excludes coverage for your preexisting condition, contact your insurance agent or your state's insurance department.
