President's Proposed FY'07 Budget Cuts Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security
Thursday February 16, 2006
In his proposed budget for the 2007 Fiscal Year, President Bush recommends funding cuts for public programs such as Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security in order to pay for permanent tax cuts and the war on terrorism. Experts believe that Congress will not pass the measures required to carry out the Bush budget plan - these cuts will be unpopular with voters, and this is an election year for many members of Congress.
If you feel strongly one way or the other about Bush's budget proposals (outlined briefly in the article), contact your elected representatives in Congress to let them know what you think. The President's proposals will remain mere proposals unless Congress approves the legislation necessary to carry them out.
