A nationwide state-by-state analysis by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation reveals that uninsured adults are more likely to skip preventative screening tests and necessary medical care than people with health insurance. The study also shows that this is likely to lead to increased health care costs, because easily treatable minor medical conditions can eventually become serious, expensive medical conditions in the future.
The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation released this report to launch their Cover the Uninsured Week, which runs from May 1-7, 2006. They are hoping that the study data will inspire people to more actively and aggressively pursue ways to reduce the number of uninsured individuals in the U.S.

My feeling is that one of the ways to make sure that the number of uninsured in this country is lowered is to reduce the cost of health insurance. With the prices now it’s hard for many people to get health coverage to take care of things when it comes to routine screening and such.
One of the biggest reasons for the high cost of health insurance is one of the same reasons for the high gas prices: the obligation to the shareholders.
Something must be done about the prices of health insurance b/c the cost now, even though health coverage and good healthcare are important, is affecting the people who have insurance now to help with the cost of their medical care. It is doing so by making it harder to live such as with getting meals on the table.
I would like to ask that the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation or other similar organizations to pls look in to the high cost of health insurance to see what can be done to bring it down so that not only will it no longer be cost prohibitive to those on it now, but make it easier for the currently uninsured to get coverage.
I have many medical issues that need tending to such as endometriosis but I worry about what would happen if I lost that coverage b/c of the cost of the coverage.
Pls help us so that we don’t have to continue to worry about the cost of our health coverage going up even further.
That is a major stressor in many people’s lives and henceforth causing a great deal of anxiety having to worry how long it will be before you no longer have coverage.
Thanks for your time.
