Most New Jobs in Florida Do Not Include Health Benefits
Wednesday June 21, 2006
Florida International University recently released a study showing that most new jobs in Florida do not come with health insurance benefits. Rapid economic growth is occurring in the construction, leisure and hospitality, professional and business services, and wholesale and retail trade industries - all of which are among the least likely jobs to include health benefits. In fact, 42% of all construction workers in Florida lack health insurance coverage. This is mainly because many construction workers are in small businesses, and do not belong to a union which would negotiate better benefits.
