Medical Care For Family of Four in New York City Tops $15,000/Year

Thursday July 6, 2006
A recent report released by Milliman, an actuarial firm, indicates that the average cost for medical care for an insured family of four in New York City is approximately $15,255 per year. That works out to $41.79 per day, out-of-pocket.

Prices may vary in different areas of the country, but the results from this study also show that nationwide, out-of-pocket health care costs have increased significantly over the past 5 years - about 8% each year. Total costs for insured families have increased by almost 10% each year since 2001. Expert actuaries expect these expenditures to continue increasing, at least for the next 2-3 years.
