Many Companies Offer Health Advocacy Services To Employees

By August 29, 2006

An increasing number of businesses are including health advocacy services among the benefits they offer to their employees. Health advocacy services include directing patients to the best doctors and treatments, encouraging healthy behaviors, and assisting with billing and insurance coverage issues.

Health advocacy is a relatively new profession, so there are no certification requirements or professional associations representing these advocates. However, they improve health care quality and efficiency, and offer patients peace of mind and the ability to focus on getting and staying well rather than medical billing errors. Thus, many companies have found these advocates to be an invaluable resource for improving worker health and productivity.

To find out if health advocacy services are included in your employee benefits package, refer to your employee handbook or contact your Human Resources Department.
