AARP Promotes Prescription Drug Reimportation
Tuesday September 19, 2006
The Des Moines Register reports that the AARP is aggressively lobbying Congress to pass a bill which would allow Americans to purchase U.S.-manufactured drugs from overseas pharmacies. The AARP has committed $500,000 to an advertising campaign designed to promote legal drug importation. The organization feels that people are reimporting prescription drugs in spite of the laws against the practice, so our government should be working to ensure that these reimported drugs are safe, rather than criminalizing reimportation entirely.
