Most Part D Enrollees Sticking With Their Plans

Friday December 29, 2006
According to the Washington Post, only 5% of Medicare Part D enrollees say they will switch to a new plan during this year’s open enrollment period. Open enrollment ends on December 31, 2006. After that, enrollees cannot change their plan again until November of 2007.

77% of drug plan enrollees are currently in plans that will increase their monthly premiums in 2007. Some experts believe that because of these pricing changes, beneficiaries should be especially vigilant and cautious when re-enrolling for 2007. Nevertheless, Part D enrollees seem to be quite happy with their plans. Most find the program too complicated and the number of choices available overwhelming, so they would rather stick with what they have than switch – even if it means paying more in 2007.
