Highmark Offers Healthcare Gift Card

Health insurer Highmark is offering a new kind of gift card for those hard-to-buy-for individuals on your holiday shopping list. According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Highmark's gift card can be used to pay for physician visits, prescriptions, or even Lasik surgery - but only at merchants which have been pre-approved by Visa as being health-related. Currently, there is no way of preventing Highmark gift card holders from using their cards to purchase non-health-related items from a drugstore or hospital gift shop, but this may be possible in the future.
