Hospital Bills Increased 90% Over Past Decade

A recent study shows that hospital costs have increased by an alarming 90% over the past ten years. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality reports that total hospital care costs rose from $462 billion in 1997 to $873 billion in 2007. Costs specifically attributable to strokes rose 51%, while coronary artery disease led to costs 44% higher than those incurred in 1997.
