Wal-Mart Announces $1B In Savings On Generics
Friday March 21, 2008
Wal-Mart estimates that its customers have saved $1 billion since their $4 discount generic drug program was launched in 2006. According to the Sacramento Business Journal, the discount drug program reached a large number of uninsured individuals who might otherwise have gone without medication.
Company officials believe that the $1 billion in savings is a conservative estimate because other companies also reduced their prescription drug prices.
