New York Insurers Must Cover Same-Sex Spouses

Many same-sex couples have been concerned about their legal status since Proposition 8 passed in California. There has been some good news recently in New York for those wondering if their family relationships would be recognized - the New York Insurance Department recently issued a circular requiring insurers doing business in New York to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states. A same-sex spouse must be treated the same as an opposite-sex spouse.
