Definition:

A Preferred Provider Organization - a group of healthcare providers who have a contract with an insurance company to provide healthcare services according to a certain fee schedule. Preferred providers are paid per service rendered. Insured patients pay a set copay for services provided by preferred providers, and must pay extra if they go to a physician outside the network.
