Trends - Small Employers Offering Incentives to Forgo Insurance Coverage

There is an interesting article in the Christian Science Monitor which states that some small businesses are trying to limit their operating costs by encouraging employees to forgo health insurance coverage. If an employee chooses not to enroll in the company's health insurance plan, that employee receives higher wages and other benefits. This could benefit employees who can get insurance coverage through a spouse or parent, but it could also leave some employees to fend for themselves in the individual insurance market.
