Drug Importation Rates Reduced, Partly Because of Medicare Part D

According to the Canadian International Pharmacy Association, fewer Americans are purchasing their prescription drugs from Canada. They believe that this is at least partly because seniors and people with disabilities can now purchase their drugs at a reduced cost through the Medicare Part D prescription drug benefit. They also believe that stricter enforcement of drug importation is discouraging Americans from purchasing their medications overseas.
