Colorado Proposes Allowing Grandparents To Carry Grandchildren on Insurance Policies
Friday April 21, 2006
Colorado is considering legislation that would allow grandparents to include grandchildren living with them to be included as dependents on their health insurance policies. This is yet another creative attempt by state governments to reduce the number of uninsured individuals living in their states. Currently, only children of policyholders qualify as dependents. Business owners oppose the measure, as increasing the number of dependents allowed under job-based coverage would increase health care costs for them.
