Recent Lawsuit Settlement May Make It Easier To Decipher Claims Denials

A recent lawsuit settlement in Pennsylvania may make it easier for consumers to decipher insurance claims denials, according to UPI. Highmark, an affiliate of Blue Cross Blue Shield, will now begin providing detailed claims denial information to its members, including why their claim was denied and how they can appeal the decision. This settlement was reached after an elderly couple sued Highmark for failing to provide the information necessary to navigate their coverage and receive benefits. It is hoped that as a result of this settlement, other insurers will follow suit and provide more detailed claims denial information to their members.
